What is genetic variance? Definition and Meaning – Dictionary Of Parasitology



(genetics) The proportion of the total variance of a trait that is due to genes. It may have several components, due to the additive effects of separate genes, or dominance, or interaction. The rest of the variance is environmentally produced. The relative contribution of genetic factors to variance is not a fixed feature of any trait. See hcritability.
